Hard Hat Site Tour: Nohona Hale
Centrally located on Cooke Street in Kaka’ako, Nohona Hale provides 111 micro-unit studio apartments
consisting of approximately 285 sq. ft. each, plus a 70 sq. ft. lanai. Co-developed by Bronx Pro Group and
EAH Housing, Nohona Hale is an affordable, amenities-rich, rental housing community in the heart of Ka-ka’ako,
minutes from the waterfront, City Hall and Ala Moana.
A former surface parking lot, the 9,660 s.f. site is leased from the Hawaii Community Development Authori-ty
which sought to promote an affordable housing project that is green, promotes multi-modal transit, and
representative of smart growth principles. Nohona Hale fulflls all of those goals by providing micro-units
targeted to lower income households and maximizing the density of a previously under-utilized and central-ly
located infll parcel.
To enhance the living environment for residents, each apartment features foor to ceiling window walls that
slide open to their own lanais. Building amenities include a community room, kitchen and lounge area,
urban farm, ftness room and central laundry. A ground foor commercial space also activates the street
presence.
Attendees will need to bring their own PPE (hardhats, safety vests, glasses), wear long pants
and covered-toe shoes.
